I am a life long resident of South Carolina. I grew up in the little college town of Clemson; attending Daniel High School and graduating from Clemson University in 1970. As an ROTC graduate I received a commisssion in the U.S. Army and served on active duty for two years and then four more in the Active Reserve. During my active duty time I spent time as a military instructor in " special weapons ", training and testing individuals in new weapons technologies. During my reserve time I served as a training officer training new recruits in weapons and tactics, completing my service with the rank of Captain.
As a civilian I worked a short time in Industry before becoming a high school teacher and coach. I retired after 28 years service.
Since my military days firearms and collecting and refurbishing military collectables has been a hobby of mine. In 2002 I decided to use my interest in firearms and my over 30 years teaching experience , in military and civilian life , to get my ceritification to teach Concealed Weapon Permit classes for the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. In the past eight years I have taught the class to over 2000 individuals.
I reside in Anderson with my wife Sandra, also a retired teacher. Sandra is very active in my classes assisting students with paperwork and administrative details which helps the classes run smoothly. We both are active in our local church and we also serve as volunteer Guardians ad Litem. Serving as advocates for children who have come into state custody because of neglect or abuse. I am also active in the local Republican Party. Presently serving as my precinct President and work hard to promote local, state, and national candidates who support our Second Amendement. Sandra and I have been blessed with four children and 9 wonderful grandkids.
