1. You must be a resident of SC and at least 21 years of age.
( To qualify for a SCNON-RESIDENTpermit you must show proof of owning property and paying taxes in SC. The form for this is on the SLED website : www.sled.sc.gov)
2. Must be able to pass a SLED and FBI background check. . Note: Driving Record: A minor traffic violation will not result in denial of a permit. However, six multiple traffic violations within a five year period can be used as a basis for denial. If you have questions concerning your driving record and if it would cause a problem in obtaining a CWP it is suggested that you call Regulatory Services CWP Question line at SLED. 3. Not be prohibited by any state or federal law to be in possession of a handgun. ( For detailed information on SC Gun Laws go to the SLED website. Web address is on the "Helpful Links " page. )
4. You must successfully complete the 8 hour certification course offered on this website.
You will be shooting 50 rounds at a silhouette target at the following distances: 10 rounds each at 3 , 5 , 7 , 10 yards and 5 rounds each at 12 and 15 yards. You must get 35 out of 50 ( 70% ). An option available. If you have more than one pistol and would like to use both in the range exercise you can change out half way through. Just let us know what you would like to do as soon as we get to the range. if using different calibers make sure you have sufficient ammo.
